My entrepreneurial story

I am a one-woman-show, with green eco shoes as part of personal branding…

I know, I should only tell the story of my humble beginnings when I am already established, successful, and recognized.

But I still am in the phase of humble beginnings and there is so much to learn from just not pretending otherwise.

I am a solopreneur (like the majority of expertise-based professionals), who most accurately feels like a lonleypreneur (I heard this is not an unexpected feeling).

I saw many “flying solo” stories about ditching the corporate world, leaving behind the abusive, atrocious, burnout-guaranteeing environment and following your path, enjoying the boss less, flexible, working-from-the-beach universe of clients abundance and a lot of me-time (raised eyebrow emoticon)!

When translating to reality this means (at least for me…):

  • Using the valuable expertise I gained in the corporate world, that I could not have built on my own;

  • Working maybe double the time in the beginning;

  • Learning what I need but don’t like: finance, web design, local legislation, social network algorithms;

  • Answering friends and family “So, how’s your business going?” and feeling the pressure to make it sound better than it is so I won’t disappoint them;

  • Serving each client as if it is my one and only, another “corporate” thing I learned combined with not actually knowing how many other clients are on the way.

…all these in order to bring to life an idea that motivates me deeply: we all deserve great service, and we are all responsible for serving each other with care and professionalism.

So let’s normalize great service instead of lowering our expectations little by little, until they completely disappear;

It’s only been a few months, what else could I expect?you could ask.

A few intense, mostly doubt-full, questions-loaded months.

But it was all balanced with heartfelt success stories that kept me going.

Is anyone here in the same phase of humble beginnings, right now?

New career, new business, new life chapter? How does it feel for you?
